2019 Nissan Sentra Review and Comparison in Denver, CO

A Dependable Sedan for Every Need: 2019 Nissan Sentra

The Nissan Sentra isn't a new vehicle to the market with production dating back to the early 1980s. It maintains its presence by striking a balance between power and efficiency. There are many sedans that lean too heavily onto one side of that spectrum, leaving a little bit to be desired, but the 2019 Nissan Sentra does just enough on both fronts to keep drivers happy.

The newest Nissan Sentra is part of the seventh generation that started in 2013 - making it prime for a remodel soon - that has a more classic and traditional look rather than the edgier feel of models like the Toyota Camry, but it works for the Sentra.

You can choose from six trims for a 2019 Nissan Sentra that is equipped the way that you want it: S, SV, SR, SR Turbo, SL, and NISMO.

What Does the NISMO Trim Include?

Almost every brand has a designation for its sport trim, and NISMO is it for Nissan. These models have special tuning, parts, and deigns to evoke a more exciting feeling from your time behind the wheel.

The 2019 Nissan Sentra NISMO trim comes with a stronger engine, upsized brake rotors, a sport-tuned suspension, and other such features to help it lean more towards the power. Its styling serves a dual purpose: looking good and helping to be more aerodynamic with greater downforce and less lift.

It also comes with a NISMO badge on the back and has signature red lines on the trim of the body.

Power and Efficiency

Any of the engine options will provide you with an entertaining experience and will keep you happy knowing that you won't need to constantly stop for fuel.

The 2019 Sentra S comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that can make 130 horsepower while getting up to 35 MPG highway and 27 MPG city (which increases by 2 MPG for both measures when you choose the automatic).

Choosing the Sentra SV, SR, or SL will get you a similar engine that makes 124 horsepower with 29 MPG city and 37 MPG highway.

Opting for the more powerful Nissan Sentra NISMO will get you a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 188 horsepower, and slightly lowers fuel efficiency to 25 MPG city and 30 MPG highway.

As you might be able to tell, the Sentra comes with two powertrain options: manual and automatic. The six-speed manual can be equipped on the Sentra S and the NISMO trims, but all Nissan Sentra options can come with an automatic Xtronic CVT. This makes the Sentra one of the last models that allows drivers to get the experience that they might be craving from a manual transmission but doesn't detract from those who appreciate the smooth feeling and effortless commute that comes from an automatic.

A Sweet and Simple Interior

The Nissan Sentra doesn't like to flaunt or show off, instead it wants to keep the driver happy. The intuitive features and slightly upscale options allow you to craft a cabin that is tailored to your needs. The seven-inch touchscreen system is one of the easiest to learn, giving it an advantage over some of the competition.

The instrument display continues to show essential information without making it cluttered or difficult to understand. By including the Advanced Driver-Assist Display you are putting a plethora of information available next to all your gauges, showing you audio, driving aids, and other such essential data.

The interior offers more space than you would expect, with a larger than average trunk measuring in at 15.1 cubic feet and a cabin that offers 95.9 cubic feet of passenger space. You can even fold down those rear seats to maximize your cargo space, leading to up to 74.1 cubic feet of it.

Advanced Safety Features

Having a vehicle that prioritizes the safety of you and your passengers is important. Nissan made sure the 2019 Sentra will make you feel as safe as possible.

For 2019 you will find Intelligent Cruise Control through the Nissan Intelligent Mobility System, as well as the options to include Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Where We Stand on the 2019 Nissan Sentra

The Sentra does everything that it sets out to do by providing a practical and thought about design for drivers to enjoy. It might not be the most exciting, it might not even be the most stylish, but it continues to provide exactly what drivers are looking for in an intuitive and easily understood way.

That counts for a lot in our books.
